MEOWBUNTU project.

Hi. I'm not a programmer or developer, but I hope I can inspire people who are more techie than myself to get excited about a new project:

MEOWBUNTU.

Since so many minority and not-so-minority groups now have their own specialised Ubuntus (I'll wisely refrain from naming names), I feel it's time that there was a distro specially tailored for a neglected section of society.

Cats.

Particularly I feel that work is needed on some feline accessibility features. My cats have great trouble with the keyboard, and when they try to use it, frankly, it looks like they're just walking on the keys, and the result is on-screen garbage.

They also find the term 'mouse' offensive, and I respectfully suggest that this usage of the word should henceforth be considered as politically incorrect.

It goes without saying that the Ubuntu slogan should also be altered from the (frankly offensive) 'Linux for human beings' to 'Linux for sentient beings.'

The remix should also include features that are of particular interest to felines - perhaps a dynamic wallpaper that randomly downloads and displays a random LOLCAT picture every few minutes.

Please feel free to add your own ideas, and let's make MEOWBUNTU the first distro to break the barriers of Human Chauvinism. Who knows, we may even open the floodgates to remixes like WOOFBUNTU, or OINKBUNTU.

It's all about choice, right?

I sat down and talked about this with my cats, to get their perspective on this. After several hours of deliberation, they came to the conclusion that the time would have been betters pent had I been feeding them and giving them petting and scratchings.

They also hinted that they already have their own OS, and it is (as all cat things are) superior to anything we might have tossed together.

I just taught my parrot the word 'Ubuntu' and now it wants its own distro too ... with a picture of a big juicy cracker on the desktop, as well as a link to Tweeter.

I'm going to name it POLLYBUNTU and it will need some good security systems here, particularly in the event of marauding cats, so I hope that there won't be any major conflicts with MEOWBUNTU, and thank you for the catalyst for this long awaited distro to take the IT resources for the cockatoos and galahs of the planet sky high!

Our cockatiels will occasionally perch on top of my monitor and poop. In the pass I considered this to be a rude way of letting me know what they thought of my system. But after reading this I wonder if I misinterpreted and all I need is the right distro :-k

My cat would love this, but maybe get a touchpad (to replace the "mouse") and a giant keyboard for their paws. That would have it's advantages.

... and don't forget that keyboard are plastic and made for angry fingernails, but not angry claws!
