Please help, I already run ubuntu on my laptop and decided to bite the bullet and install it on my desktop. I loaded the cd and followed the instructions to the letter. I took the decision to allow ubuntu to completely partition my hard drive leaving no trace of vista. The installation went smoothly to the point where I was instructed to reboot my pc. After the reboot, which took an age, I was presented with a blank screen with my mouse pointer firmly planted in the centre and all my efforts to change this have failled. I have tried rebooting and rebooting in safe mode, but I am still in the same situation. Any help will be great as I am in the doghouse with the missus for messing up the pc.
Thanks

What are the specs of your pc? Maybe it isn't compatible with Ubuntu minimum requirements.

Did you boot the LiveCD and choose the try it without installing first?

Yes I've checked the spec of my pc and it fits all the requirements, and yes I tried it without installing first.
