Forgive me for straying topic-wise from Ubuntu, but I just thought I'd ask.

What does everyone out there think about Knoppix? I've run it off of the CD a number of times with results ranging from success to what I'd call a crash. Can you install it to the hard disk? I believe I've read that you can, but I've never done it myself.

Just wondering...

You can but why? Its not a full feature distro.

it's been great as a file recovery tool in the past numerous times. as a daily desktop? nah.

So, pardon my stupidity, but could someone add those features in that are lacking? I know this would probably require me to "recompile my kernel," which I would like to do at least once before I die, maybe with a little liquor on board...LOL

I have been using Knoppix for quite a while and I always keep a Knoppix CD/DVD/USB drive close by in case of emergencies. In the past few years I have used it numerous times for data recovery, hardware testing, file system repair, and wiping hard drives.
