I want to use an old kernel but as soon as I set "export LD_ASSUME_KERNE:=2.4.1", nothing works anymore even vi and ls commands. Is there a way to fix this?

Thanks

hi,

based on this (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linux_kernel#Timeline) and this (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ubuntu_releases#Ubuntu_4.10_.28Warty_Warthog.29), i doubt think the Ubuntu developers ever gave a moments thought to the possibility of someone wishing to run the 2.4 series kernel with Ubuntu.

if you really want to use that ancient kernel, have you considered Debian?

Thanks, the tool that needs 2.4 series kernel works fine on another machine which has Debian. I am wondering if there is a hack that I can get it to work on my ubuntu?
