Hi,

Am trying to upgrade to Ubuntu 9 using package manager. This is the error I get:

Could not calculate the upgrade

An unresolvable problem occurred while calculating the upgrade:
The package 'kubuntu-desktop-kde3' is marked for removal but it is in the removal blacklist.

This can be caused by:
* Upgrading to a pre-release version of Ubuntu
* Running the current pre-release version of Ubuntu
* Unofficial software packages not provided by Ubuntu

If none of this applies, then please report this bug against the 'update-manager' package and include the files in /var/log/dist-upgrade/ in the bug report.

Any help?

Do you mean 9.04 or 9.10? 9.10 is a pre-release version. Not released until late October.

If you want stable install 8.04 LTS (Long Term Support).

I would probably try upgrading from CD as suggested. Instructions for doing so can be found on this page:

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/JauntyUpgrades

You did an update before you tried to upgrade?
