hi,

First, you need to get ubuntu:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/GettingUbuntu

you want the "Desktop" version in "64 bit".

Second, you need to burn the ISO to a CD:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BurningIsoHowto

That's the hard stuff.

Finally, you need to install Ubuntu:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/GraphicalInstall

If you are having trouble with any of that, let us know!

Thank you Earthpigg,
I have a CD of Ubuntu 9.04 but it does not say whether it is 34 or 64 bit, however I have ordered one online and will just wait utnil I recieve it before I install.

Thank you so much. If you think of any other matters that would assist me in using my laptop flawlessly, please forward them to me.

Thanks again!!!!

look for "i386" or "x86" for 32 bit.

look for "amd64" or "x86-64" for 64 bit.

if it doesn't say, then it's 32 bit.

on your computer, using 64 bit would not be a huge improvement over using 32 bit. but of course, its your call.

Got the extras. Checking them out now. Checked the system last night. Sound working, movie player not playing some movie formats, bluetooth not pairing with my blackberry pearl, but so far, awesome!!!!!!!

Have you installed VLC? It's a media player. Another tool to try out. VLC may play some media that Totem won't.
