Hello,

PC specs:

Intel core Duo processor T5450
Mobil Intel graphics media accelerator X3100
2 GB DDR2

I've been running Ubuntu for about 6 months now and things are going fine. I have one question though. What is the difference between Ubuntu 32bit and 64bit?

Can I install Ubuntu 64bit on my machine with these specs? I read somewhere that Intel Pentium core Duo supports both 32bit as well as 64bit? Is this true? Do either of them have any advantage over the other? Will it run on my laptop?

Thanks in advance for all the answers.

Basically the 32Bit OS can only read up to 3GB of RAM and the 64BIT OS can read more than 3GB.

So if you dont have more than 3GB you shouldnt install the 64Bit. The 64 Bit uses more Ram than the 32Bit, so if i were you i wouldnt install the 64Bit as you only have 2GB
