Tried installing jaunty live cd on a pc with ths specifications:

i440bx mobo
P3 450mhz
256mn ram

It would reach an error saying SEGMENTATION FAULT or something. Tried to use XUBUNTU ... same error. Any ideas?

I run a Toshiba BX440 400Mhz laptop.
use Xubuntu 8.04. Any thing higher does not seem to work because of Kernel changes.
8.04 will run very nicely. You are able to update it also, but keep the same version...really no need to get a later version with older hardware. No real advantage.

Per poster above, you should be able to use 8.04LTS, which will be supported until April of 2011.

Not sure why you would get the segmentation fault.

If you are really bent on Jaunty, I recommend attempting to use the Alternate Install disk given your system specs.
