I need a nvidia geforce 8600gt 256 MB driver download for windows XP Pro 32 bit. It is for my graphics card. Sorry that this doesn't have to do with ubuntu even though I am a Windows XP and Ubuntu dual booter.

Thanks, that would be really helpful because I can't stand windows without it.

Try here (http://majorgeeks.com/Nvidia_Forceware_for_Windows_XP200003_d5934.html). It's a generic package of drivers. I used an earlier version a long time ago and it worked fine and when I have to reinstall windows, I still use the original thing I downloaded. Windows is really only there for some programs needed for study that are incompatible with linux.

The graphics driver worked great.

The only problem is I need more drivers.

The only noticeable ones so far are:

Mic driver
Web cam driver
Speaker driver

could you find those.

It may be hard for you to find out which ons I need

I can type something into the command prompt that could tell you or find it some other way.

Just tell me how and I will.

Your best bet is the web site for the company which manufactured the card.

Would have to know the specs. There are 3 commoon places to look for drivers. The oem website for the computer, the oem website for the individual card or chip and if its windows, then by running windows updates
and choosing the driver updates.

Umm, How about

1st driver) Base System Device (i think it is a SD card reader)

2nd driver) Modem device on high definition audio bus

3rd driver) Usb device (I think that is my Webcam or Mic.)

My audio isn't working too (as in the speakers).

I have a MSI 163-A white box if that helps too.

Tell me if you need more info.

I can type something into the command prompt that could tell you or find it some other way.

Are you capable of typing

sudo lshw

into a terminal, and looking through the output for the names of the relevant hardware and posting it here, alternatively posting the output of the command ?

Looks like it may be a rebadged GX600, try the drivers for that model from the msi website.
