I am brand new to Ubuntu and Linux. I have Ubuntu running and would like to use the Desk 2 and maybe more feature. I see that I can just click on the box in the panel at the top to switch desktops but when I do that, I just get a screen with my background but no control panels at the top or bottom for Desk 2. I can not seem to figure out how to get back to the Desk1 since I have no panels to click on and the CTL + ALT + up or down just spin the screen to itself. What am I not doing? I have clicked Shift Tab and other combinations without success and I am tired of rebooting just so I can try again.
Frustrated in Austin,
Thanks

Just to be on the safe side are you running KDE or GNOME?

I have never ran into your problem so this is just a suggestion. Check your screen size to see if the panels are there but out of site.
