Synaptic Manager Problem

I tried Updating my Programmes in 9.4 Ubuntu and synaptic crashes in the process, i try Installing new programmes and it behaves the same way.
Meanwhile it is the same Packager manger I used for installing my VirtualBox and even Adobe flash............. where could the problem be coming from ??????????.......... Any ideas... ???

Hi, can you open a terminal (Applications>Accessories>Terminal) and try updating with

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade
