According to Wikipedia, Linux already supports USB 3
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Universal_Serial_Bus#USB_3.0

when it comes out, what options are there for getting usb 3.0 on existing laptops?
through a expresscard slot or something?

also, what are the benifits (other than speed)?

This will be nice. Linux is the first OS to finally get 3.0. I'm wondering the advantages too.

Its vaporware. For the moment, there are NO USB 3.0 devices on the market either in new PC's or in retrofit upgrade kits.

Its vaporware..

"Consumer products are expected to become available in 2010"

That doesn't sound like Vaporware to me.

They say it will available in 2010. They don't say in what quarter of 2010 USB 3.0 devices will ship to the market.

"Commercial controllers are expected to enter into volume production no later than the first quarter of 2010."
