i read it and enjoyed it very much.
shortly after i read another book, published a few years later, that disputes the notion that Western Dominance was an accident of geography and climate. i also enjoyed that book very much.
it traces modern western culture back through the ages to the Greeks and makes the argument that without cultural traits derived from there (individualism, absolute brutality, civic virtue, dissent, some others i cannot recall), the West would not be as dominant as it is today.
anyone have any idea what book that was?
