I installed firefox-3.5.2 form the repos and it turns out it is actually an unbranded version without any search engines even. I installed wikipedia(en) but I am unable to find the standard google search plugin so far I only found google(EN).

I think that is a beta version. I try it for awhile and now its not working. I have to uninstall and go back to version 3.0 and hope it work.

What you have is the ubuntu tweaked version like all the included Firefox browsers that come with the OS. I think that the name being different throws up flags for people. The tweaked version has better fonts among other things then the direct Mozilla linux version which is pretty much the same as shiretoko.

I hope you've already found out the answer for this, but for posterity, here it is: install the standard Firefox alongside Shiretoko. The search providers from Firefox will also be used by Shiretoko.
