I have taken to a new way of getting the word of Linux out there. I asked this question on Yahoo Answers and the answers I got were not what I expected. Check out the replies. (http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AsgyUazoY16atIvUjtaQT9Psy6IX;_ylv=3?qid =20090920200733AAKYDqI)

What did you expect? :)

Ubuntu trashing. It appeared that the ones who knew about Linux gave great answers and the others just compared to what they knew. Best of all, someone new may have went to Ubuntu.com and looked to see what it is about.

Regardless of the subject of the question, I'm surprised that most of those answers aren't retarded. I mean, it is Yahoo! Answers...

Yeah, I was kinda expecting people to ask, "what the hell is Ubuntu," or some other dumb response. It is funny that the guy who did not mention one thing got two thumbs up, yet the guy, Rick, gave a link to a comparison site and received no thumbs.

I also responded to this question (http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AvlKTAZrnn3hw6T3mDOIslzty6IX;_ylv=3?qid =20090920201817AAwSMKj&show=7#profile-info-AWst9fk9aa) and the other guys acted like my post was insignificant. Oh well, his loss for buying Windows 7 to write over his Ubuntu.

Sorry for being slightly offtopic, but I thought I'd link to this...

Marginally NSFW.

Do be aware that most programs that worked with Vista and XP do not work with Windows 7.

I've not heard anything like that before. Also, I think he pirated it, seeing as it's the RTM...

It could be one of two reasons:

1. Barely anyone has read the question and its answers.
2. Rick's comparison was slightly skewed. It wasn't very good, in my opinion.

Maybe you got some answers from existing Linux users, thats why?

That is clear to see.

It doesn't seem to me like people are actually answering the question. They see "Ubuntu" and start spewing off adverts.

I see what you are saying.

Yeah, I was glad to see the post with all the info about Mint and such. Now if someone does a yahoo search they may see that and give Linux a shot.

Yeah, I felt the same way. It is proof there is an a-hole in every crowd.
