Depending on the kind of theme you use that picture can be very nice indeed.
Until some weeks ago I was using a green theme with a picture like that one was background.
But I would only use that picture if it had at least the same resolution as my monitor, I don't like stretched pictures as background.

+1 I'd quite like that at 1680x1050 :)

There are plenty of those images out there:
Just look at Google images... (http://images.google.com.br/images?imgcolor=green&imgsz=l&imgtbs=lzt&hl=pt-BR&client=firefox-a&rls=com.ubuntu%3Aen-US%3Aunofficial&um=1&sa=1&q=wet+leaf+OR+grass&btnG=Pesquisar+imagens&aq=f&oq=&start=0&imgtype=photo&imgc=specific)

Although you won't find many at that resolution.

With a little more contrast...

Or sharper with more vivid colors.

Photoshop running in Wine, GIMP can also do it, but I'm more used to PS.

In PS it's Ctrl+M, in GIMP, it's Colors > Curves.

There you can mess up with that curve, then select another color for the curve and change it too.
Leaving the left part lower and the right part higher will increase the contrast, leaving the whole curve higher will make it brighter.
I've increased the contrast and the brightness of the green, reduced the red contrast and made the blue brighter.
