I just had one of my systems die & in order to stay within in my replacement budget I am recycling some old parts. I plan on installing Jaunty for my OS & I am not to sure on the best hard drive set up.

I have just about south of 700 Gig of data (mostly media) which is currently on the samsung spinpoint listed below. My original thought was to set up my two 250's in Raid 0 but the more I read about RAID 0 in Linux I am not sure if it ->

-Is Possible (bit of a Linux Newbie)
-Is it worth the performance gain (I have seen in windoze but I have read there is almost no impact in Linux)

My other thought was to throw the OS on the Raptor (10 K RPM but not 3 GBS) but not sure of the trade of vs. 250 @ 3 GBS vs 1.5 @ 10K RPM's.

I would also like to have the SAMSUNG set up as HOME without destroying the data on install.

Any thoughts ?
