I just put Ubuntu 9.04 on Toshiba Satellite P200 last night. First time I've ever used anything other than windows (I finally got feed up with Vista). My problem is the graphics card i think. My s-video doesnt work, I cant choose normal or extra under visual effects in the appearance, and when I run the hardware drivers, it says my ati amd proprietary fglrx graphics driver is inactive and it wont ever activate it. I have already added the codes in the terminal for everything on this page : http://linuxondesktop.blogspot.com/2007/02/13-things-to-do-immediately-after.html . If anyone has any suggestions, I would really appreciate it. Thanks.

I had similar problems on my Toshiba laptop. I used a program called envyng to get the correct drivers installed and everything configured properly. You can try to download it from synaptic, but I think it only available in terminal mode in the 9.04 repositories.

You can also get it from http://albertomilone.com/nvidia_scripts1.html

I believe it is still the graphical version, but don't quote me on that.
