crashplan install.sh opens in gedit

I am trying to install crashplan on my machine but it either opens in gedit or it does nothing. I downloaded the package for linux. (I have ubuntu 9.4 and am a total newbie). I open the package and have clicked on install.sh.
thoughts??:confused:

What happens if you open a terminal and run
sudo sh install.sh or
./install if it doesn't need to be root
