I'm trying to run 64 bit Ubuntu in a virtual machine via VirtualBox on a Win XP SP3 host. I've tried both 8.04 and 9.04, but no matter which option I choose, it always seems to lock up right after the boot menu (Ive tried the 'install', 'run from CD', and 'test CD' options). I'd really like to get it installed on the VM to run a 64 bit Linux executable I've got. Any suggestions?

do you have 64bit hardware?
also try reburning the cd.

VBox on Windows doesn't let you just use the ISO without burning it? I would test it on 7 but the partition I installed it on is too small for adding a VBox to it.

Yes, I'm using the iso file as a virtual CD. No need to reburn it.
