Guess what? I just saw bill gates(?) on IRC! He claims he was discussing plans to "affiliate with ubuntu". Here's the log:
wastrel etsb, try delete, esc, f10, other esc keys
ablyss 15 years of computer hobbying and from day 1 I always called it execut key.. bad habbit hard to break
wastrel etsb, or look it up on google if you know your mobo manufacturer or what bios you're running
etsb wastrel midwinter can i restart in dos and from there go to bios?
wastrel no
LjL soundray: and still, what you experienced earlier is not quite normal. a few minutes of memtest won't hurt, that's all i'm saying - i'm not wishing you doom and gloom, i'm sure memtest won't find a thing :)
LjL ablyss: hah
billgates Hello, this is Bill Gates. If possible, I would like to talk about affiliation plans with Microsoft & Ubuntu. :-)
* cfh_dev (n=bigdaddy@68-114-42-111.static.gwnt.ga.charter.com) has joined #ubuntu
* Aegir has quit (Read error: 104 (Connection reset by peer))
etsb wastrel : no idea what bios its using..doesnt say at start up
LjL billgates: you've finally decided you want to offer customers an operating system?
bimberi billgates: sorry bill, we're with Google :P
navarone etsb are you using a HP or Compaq or similar?
midwinter yeah, I always wanted a linux native version of IE.
tatters how do guys make a complete back up of your PC?
* eliphas_ has quit ("My Remote control closed my irc")
etsb navarone : an old dell system
_jason billgates: can you port notepad for us?
* ablyss does a virtual back flip for getting swap enabled and sends frogzoo a high five
* jsgotangco (n=jsg@210.4.38.43) has joined #ubuntu
etsb navarone : p3
luisito an IE version? what for?
bimberi lol _jason
* kevin has quit (Nick collision from services.)
soundray tatters, partimage is a good way
navarone etsb...any badging on the case...like model number?
LjL midwinter: not native, but it runs fairly on wine, give it a try some time
* krusbjorn (n=johannes@tn-84-218-54-182.dsl.bredbandsbolaget.se) has joined #ubuntu
* stat_ has quit (Read error: 110 (Connection timed out))
billgates Well. I'm using Ubuntu right now, and we've been planning to affiliate with Ubuntu. We've also been thinking about bringing WIndows Media Player 11 to Debian and Ubuntu.
* kevin__ (n=kevin@136.245.4.254) has joined #ubuntu
tatters soundray only problem is I have to unmount the partiton , how can I do that when its running on the partition?
midwinter LjL, I was actually joking.. but I sadly do use it in vmware :|
etsb navarone : dimension4100
soundray LjL, doesn't hurt to run memtest overnight, does it?
LjL billgates: please don't :)
* MAPD has quit ("changing servers")
* marta (n=marta@201.214.208.135) has joined #ubuntu

* MAPD (n=bzzzzz@dna243-249.satp.customers.dnainternet.fi) has joined #ubuntu
* marta has quit (Client Quit)
etsb billgates : we have no need for your Windows Media Player II
LjL soundray: it definitely doesn't, memtest needs a *long* time to really find out the subtler errors (if you look on the site, they'll probably mention *days*, not one night). so if you can leave it on during the night without much of a hassle, by all means do it
soundray billgates, any discussion is futile until you place all Windows sources under GPL v3
* null (n=null@g624-9034.itee.uq.edu.au) has joined #ubuntu
krusbjorn Hey, I have no blank CDs and the ubuntu installer refuses to mount i dvd with the cd iso on. Possible to fix this?
LjL soundray: though if it *is* somewhat a hassle, don't do it, i don't think one night of memtest is really warranted here, in a practical sense
* Grim76_Away is now known as Grim76

* Eleaf (n=ethan@209.193.87.14) has joined #ubuntu
wastrel i ate too many cookies and now i don't feel so good
LjL midwinter: actually, firefox on wine looks better than native firefox here ;)
soundray LjL, I'm just thinking of setting it off and going to sleep. Watching memtest becomes incredibly tedious after the first 55 seconds.
macsat111 i have a mac running minimal ubuntu. how do i get it to find my internet?
* [129-CarNagE] has quit (Remote closed the connection)
LjL soundray: oh. really? then it must be something wrong with me... just kidding :)
