Lately the computer has been taking a long time to boot. It shows a message in the bios screen that the dram is tightly.Press key to continue. Very strange wording. Suspect the bios is from a foreign source. I have an MSI865PE board that has 4 places for memory. I'm running 1750 mgs of memory. Because the modules are different sizes ( 1 gig, 512 mg, and 250 mg. but all the same speed) could this be causing the message? Or could it be something else?

When did you buy your computer and when was the last time you updated your BIOS? I assume it's not a known bug, but you never know.

Try running memtest.

it sounds like a combination of old computer and different ram sizes, while normally you can get away with having different sizes of ram it is not recommended for this very reason. I have the same problem on older computers, how old is yours.

I found out that the first memory slot was bad on the motherboard. So I'm using the second of 4.

Actually it was the computers on/off switch, it was sticking.
