From what I have read (http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=application&iId=29), yahoo messenger does not work well with wine. You would be better off using pidgin with yahoo.
If you are wanting voice chat you can use Gyachi, you can use a 3rd 3rd party repository to install it.
