Hello Everyone!
I am totally new to this forum(and linux) and have the biggest problem(s) to ask for help with! This said I have owned and operated the Windows systems for several years.

My first experience with Ubuntu, and i am having some troubles. I have the following hardware at bottom of this posting:
Toshiba X205-SLI1 with 4GB 800MHz RAM instead of the normal 2GB, and dual 200GB Hitachi 7200RPM instead of the normal 120GB's. They are suppose to be setup in Raid-0. (not presently setup in raid though due to a virus which killed my booting process rendering the whole drive system non functional and the dvd not responding to booting in the startup though the dvd shows up in the list at boot time).

I am attempting to get the machine setup with a multi-boot process with the following:
Some form of 1) Linux (presently using Kubuntu downloaded and installed from a USB device with instructions from Pendrive.(I have the CD of Ubuntu here downloading and delivery will happen sometime in the future) This should be on a partition just large enough to accommodate linux nicely but leaving most of my HD space for the other operating systems which are:
2) XP Pro Diamond Edition 2010. setup on 1 partition for those hard to operate (on vista) games and such.
3) Vista ultimate (came with system) 64 bit edition I have the discs but the DVD burner is not working at bootup (and so far not even accessing in linux either)

My questions are:
a) How to destroy the data on the other HD that is not presently doing anything but holding the files for the old Vista? (They are not getting deleted by linux file management system. Says it cannot delete the folders or something like that even though they should not be locked or anything)
b) How do I install the first operating system and get the raid-0 back and get the DVD burner booting again? Kinda several questions in that one.
c) Is there a preferred operating system to start with and wipe the drives and get things rolling? I have the CD's from the Vista 64 ultimate and am downloading the Ubuntu 64bit version even as I write. but the DVD burner which is a TS-L802a model from the Toshiba line does not catch at boot time so installing will be tricky at best and I do not know where to start let alone the process.

I am not a linux user so commands can be typed but I am slowly learning things so please do not use Acronyms and such as they would only confuse me even more.

I hope someone can piece together the picture but you can email direct if needed so i can get in touch with someone who has the proper knowledge to help out.

Ok enough of the rambling here's the Hardware info file from a site just keep in mind the upgrades in HD size and RAM amounts/speed.

Oh, and A GREAT BIG THANK YOU in advance for any help you can give!!!!
