View Full Version : What Web Browser do you use?

I just wondered what is the most popular Web Browser for Ubuntu users. (This does include all the other Buntu variants too, I use Kubuntu + KDE myself. ) Anyway, since there are about 900,000 members here I guess I can get a few opinions. Sorry I have only listed the main competitors, if I forgot one post a description of it and I will add it to this post. (I can only put up to ten options in the poll)
So, good luck and happy browsing!

If you have another browser, including Google Chrome, (I forgot it in this one) please click here (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1267488).

BTW, I kind of expect Firefox will win by miles, but please give Opera 10 (http://www.opera.com/) a try. I think you will be blown away.

I use Swiftweasel and Konqueror often on Linux.

I have been trying Opera on my Windows box's. I kind of like it but haven't given it much of a chance. Mainly on Windows I use Firefox.

Now I got the poll made, go back and vote if you haven't already!!
I use Opera myself, now that version 10 is out, (their site says they have gotten 10,000,000 downloads in one week) I am totally happy with it for browsing, email, IRC and so many other things. The only things I still use Firefox for are downloading big files with FireDownload plugin and for it's good "history" menu. Unfortunately, viewing your history in Opera is a three-step process... :(
Still, Opera 10 is a GREAT browser, if you haven't tried it DO. Totally worth the time, and the convenience of email and web all in one is great. =D>

I've been using Firefox for a long time. But I like Opera's interface and speed better than Firefox's.

Now I've been using Iron, and it is SUPER fast, which is great. Once it is finished, it'll probably be my main browser.

As you will, but I can't change that now. What's the good of a poll if no one knows the results? Also, I don't think anyone can see WHO voted, just WHAT they voted for. I could not find who voted for what anywhere. So, sorry you don't like it, but I can't edit a poll. :|

Swiftfox, for me it's faster than swiftweasle for some reason.

When Chrome comes out properly and officially on linux I'll probably switch, for no reason other than I love the minimal unobtrusive design.

I am not sure what would be the 'proper' way to make a new poll.

I would include the following:

Hey, this is a follow-up of another poll I made, found here (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1267398&page=1). It listed ten of the top browsers, (I forgot Chrome, somehow) and I got several complaints that theirs weren't listed. So here's the new poll, guys! :)

Arghh.. When will it stop? This is a SECONDARY poll- I repeat: S-E-C-O-N-D-A-R-Y_ P-O-L-L :)
I provided a link to the first; don't you understand that there can only be 10 options in a poll? I filled up two whole ones which would mean to merge polls would require sacrificing 10 of the browsers. Better to have two, I'd say. I mean, you already voted in my first poll! :)

Your icons don't have Seamonkey in them.

I'll stop using Seamonkey once they reach 2.0. They have a roadmap for regression up ahead, plus they're getting rid of the classic Communicator-era icons and buttons because they're not vector 32-bit enough for the public.

Anyways, I use Firefox because of he massive amount of extensions, themes, etc. you can get for it, particularly Greasemonkey and Adblock (I know Opera and some other browsers offer this functionality, but it just doesn't work as well).
