Alert Signal

Dear all,

When I try to use '\a' escape character in a cout statement like the one below;

cout << "hello\a" << endl;

I can not hear the beep signal. My sound is Ok but I think this is sth related to CPU operation.

Open up gnome terminal, go to edit->current profile. Look at the bottom of the window and see if it has "Terminal Bell" checked or not. Chances are you turned it off at some time because it's annoying.
