View Full Version : [SOLVED] new 160gb ipod classic won't work in linux

I've never had any trouble with linux and my ipod, and I decided to buy the new generation of ipod classic's, the smaller 160gb seemingly perfect for me. So I got home and fired up rhythmbox and transfered my entire library to my ipod. To my surprise, when I turned on my ipod, it told me that I had no songs! So, I plugged my ipod back into my machine, and guess what...rhythmbox tells me that all my music is on the ipod! I guess apple has made the new ipods only work with the new iTunes?

Any ideas?

I have one computer running Karmic and one running Jaunty. The "no music" bug appeared when I transferred music over to the ipod using Rhythmbox music player in Karmic. So I reset the ipod to factory settings and re-initialised the ipod on the Jaunty computer. Then I transferred the files using Jaunty and it works perfectly. So the bug seems to be in Karmic.
