ubuntu 9.04 uses libc-2.9. This version is buggy acording o vlc and firefox. It's very high on the list, number 1 currently, of libraries that cause mozilla to crash. The new version. 2.10, is available from the GNU project. I would like to compile this and replace 2.9 with 2.10. But I don't know how to make a .deb file for ubuntu ( I was a slackware guy until just a couple of days ago). Can someone point me at a site that gives this info?

TIA

PS
I have done a google search for this and found more information then is needed. One site said use check-install with a ton of things to do to make it work. Another site pointed at a manual that is a small book. I'm sure that there is an automated way to make packages as the developers would never jump through the hoops these websites are saying I have to.
