I'd never pay so much for an individual component ... too much cost if it happened to fail.

Hopefully the prices on SSD's continue to fall pretty fast.. I would LOVE to get one for my laptop... but OCZ's 500 GB SSD is listing at around $2000.......

I wish there would be more effort making the mainstream drives cheap, you know the ones that people will actually BUY.

spoons, the technology that is needed to make them cheap is also the technology that allows us to make the expensive ones.

the way it works is that some nutter pioneers the field and makes those extortionate but geekgasm inducing products and then in a few years they get cheap enough for the unwashed masses(us) to purchase.
