View Full Version : hooking my snes up to my external monitor ?

so i want to hook my snes up to my external monitor.

if i plug that into where my vga cable comes out of my monitor will i be able to plug my snes into it and have it work ?

sorry if its confusing, and i know that i need my card to support vga...how do i find out if it can - all i know is that its a dell external monitor....
is there some sort of test i can try ...i cant even find a model number
but really any suggestions or help is appreciated - thanks !!

My guess is that you would need a TV tuner card, using an Emulator would be easier.

That adapter you linked looks like it's for the computer out to a TV.

Google snes vga adaptor.

What you want is something that connects from the SNES video out to VGA in.

As for the monitor, which you want connected the to snes directly...

Just make sure it has the port to plug it into.

If you have something different, i.e. dvi, you can get a dvi to vga adaptor, and plug in any vga cable just fine.

Also, does your dell monitor have any video in?
I know the newer SNES came with only an RF-out (I replaced my old one when it broke, but luckily I had composite out)

If your monitor has those (usually three, one yellow for video, one red and white for stereo, although you could just hook the audio to speakers etc...)
Then just get a composite out cable for your snes. Not sure if it applies, but just mentioning it as another option.
