Can I install Ubuntu with a swap file instead of a swap partition?

I was trying to install ubuntu to boot with other windows OSs (triple boot). However, gparted allows only 4 primary partitions and while I can create a primary partition for Ubuntu installation I don't have one left for swap space partition.
What are my options?

create an extended partition and then you can have different partitions for root and swap.
