I feel like a dolt for asking, but I am going to anyhow. I have been trying for the last several hours to get Ubuntu to install on an old HP Pavilion 6535 Desktop. The computer has a Celeron 466MHz Processor with 192 MB Ram. I know that it is possible to run ubuntu on this particular system, as I have seen this exact model for sale with Ubuntu installed on it.

When I try to install, it appears to run very slowly, then several I/O errors come up on the screen, and then it shuts down, or if I turn off ACPI, the system appears to load properly, but within a minute, I get a scrambeled pixelated screen and it freezes. These same errors also happen if I use Kubuntu or Xubuntu.

I am out of ideas, and any help would be greatly appreciated. If anyone thinks they can help, I will try to provide any information needed to the best of my ability.

If you have at least 256 mb ram then you may try the alternate install of 7.04. Otherwise you may also want to try puppy linux.
