Hey people. I've tried KDE4 since it was in it's alpha stages, hoping it would become usable for me. However, one annoyance that never seems to go away is the flicker of KDE/QT applications when redrawing them - such as when maximizing minimized applications. It's like they are "rebuilt" every time you maximize a window. That makes them flicker just enought to be noticeable (i'm talking microseconds here), but it's still annoying.
Desktop effects do seem to "fix" the problem, however that's only a workaround since applications "fade" in, and i guess the flicker from redrawing windows is then "hidden" in the transition.
Also, desktop effects render very poorly on my mobile nvidia 8600 GS, ie they stutter, which is just as annoying, so that's not a solution really.
Maybe nvidia isn't the way to go, if I want a flawless KDE4 experience? Would i be better of with an ATI r500 (or r600, ie HD3650) using the free radeonhd drivers?
