I get this error message when attempting to update Ubuntu> Synaptic manager dpkg was interrupted, you must manually run 'dpkg --configure -a' to correct the problem. I'm not sure exactly what this error message is supposed to mean.

Last night I upgraded the system installed Nvidia drivers upgraded the kernel etc those upgrades went smooth I then went to install Ubuntu Media player followed the directions then during the install process the PC froze and I wasn't able to complete the installation I had no other choice but to close the terminal and log back on I'm not sure if that had anything to to with this error message or not here's the commands I used to update Ubuntus media player $ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get upgrade
$ sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
All the updates installed on the pc then a menu came up asking y/n questions thats when the the PC froze up and now Ubuntu won't update anymore.

Dose anyone happen to know how to correct this problem
