KDE applications suffer from hypertrophy

Hi, I'm using Xubuntu 9.04 on a laptop with a 11-inch screen and I have a few KDE applications installed (KTouch and Basket). These are both much to big and don't actually fit in the screen for some reason; I know it sounds kinda trivial but it's actually quite annoying since I use them regularly...
Does anybody know how to change this? Could I for instance install the KDE screen settings application and change the resolution?

I don't think that will work. I think that the KDE screen settings app will only work in the kde desktop, not just on kde apps on another desktop.
