Huh? 127.0.0.1 is a full fledged IP-address. It just happens to be a reserved, special use IP ("Local Host"), just like 10.x.x.x and 192.168.x.x are reserved for private network use, for example.

It's sad how some people learn how to push a few buttons and think they're 'l33t c0d1ng h4xors' and never take the time to learn how to truly use the technology they have 'mastered'.

Some people really don't have a clue about computers. I've been helping a senior citizen who is brand new to using a PC. She's not dumb as she has a doctorate in psychology but has never used a computer.
She called me when her internet quit working. She uses vista and i was trying to see if she had a connection. I said "in the bottom right corner of your desktop there are 4 or 5 icons, move your mouse down there and hover over each icon until you see a box pop up that says wireless connection available."
her: Nothing is coming up
me: Move it over to the next icon
her: I have them all covered
me: You can't cover all of them at once
her: Well you can the way i do it
me: Move the cursor, thats the arrow, over one icon
her: Oh I was holding the whole mouse up there
