I wasn't sure if I was supposed to post this in general help or here.
archive.ubuntu.com seems to be down.
Is anyone else getting this problem when doing an update using the terminal, adept or synaptic?

in synaptic, there is a 'find best server' option which will test all of the hundreds of servers and find which is fastest from your location.

http://archive.ubuntu.com/

seems to be up for me :D

Thx. I'm doing the best server option thing.
#$%! I use kde so I use adept. I guess I'll wait and see what happens when I get home this afternoon.

I can't seem to access us.arhcive.ubuntu.com or archive.ubuntu.com either.

For the moment I've added gb.archive.ubuntu.com to my sources.list and am getting updates from there (except the *en_US updates since they are apperently only on the US and main servers) until the US site or the main site works again, or until I find a closer server that works.

Summary:
I can't access archive.ubuntu.com or us.archive.ubuntu.com or ca.archive.ubuntu.com
I can access gb.archive.ubuntu.com and fr.archive.ubuntu.com
I haven't tried any besides these as I don't know what url's the other servers have.
I'm in the US so I have no idea why the US server isn't connecting.

So for those having trouble, go to "Software Sources" in the system menu, and select a different download location in the "Download from:" box (select "other", then try a different country), then update as usual. (checking back with the main and us servers every once and a while to see if they're back up.)

Hopefully whatever the problem is will be resolved soon.

It's down for me too, I tried US and Canada servers. I live in North Carolina (USA). Overnight, Ubuntu updated its list and showed the popup that it's ready to install. I saw my computer this morning with that popup, so I clicked to install and it couldn't find the server. Either way, the same fix was for me. I used the United Kingdom server and everything went fine. I'm not sure if there are two separate language-pack-en and language-pack-en-us packages, but the UK server gave me a plain language-pack-en package.

It seems to be working now. It's very slow but it's working. Boy, I'm really hooked on *buntus and could care less about xp, vista or 7.
Talk about being addicted!

I'm in South Africa using Jaunty (loving it, faster than XP on the same machine using the same/similar applications) and I couldn't access za.archive.ubuntu.com

Changed the source from South Africa to Main Server and things seem to be working again except for those packages that require translation. Hope ZA server comes back. I miss the speed.
