I'm looking for some new movies to rent and or buy. I don't care the genre. Though my favorite movies are Coraline, I Love You Man, Superbad, Adventureland, Juno, Halloween The Beggining, all the Child's Plays, Harry Potters, Twilight, Shallow Hal, The Uninvited and Orphan. What was your favorite movie?

If you read Twilight, you'll hate the movie. ^_~

I'd say Taken's pretty good. Inglourious Basterds (that's how he spells it) is amazing, but it's obviously not out yet.

Max Payne is a good watch, and Dark Knight is an obvious choice. Iron Man's pretty high up there, too. Sorry to say that a lot of the best movies from this decade came 2003-2006.

It has been difficult for me to find really good movies lately. I don't know if I'm watching too much of them, so they all feel predictable, the same old story or simply boring, but when was the last time you finished watching a movie and said "WOW", "WTF", "OMG" or something similar?

"Dark Knight" was really good, but it is just another well done batman story.

I liked "Angels & Demons". Maybe it's the best movie I have seen lately, but is not near the top of my list of best movies of all times. Anyway, kind of predictable too.

I also liked "Changeling", but it's not a superb movie. "Defiance" and "The Boy In The Striped Pyjamas" are also good.

Harry Potter I,II and III were awesome. IV and V not so much. I haven't seen the last one yet. Is it as good as the first three?

I really want to see inglorious bastards, also one of the funniest movies iv ever seen was Step Brothers, Harry Potter 6 is pretty lame, even compared to number 5.

Taken, Tropic Thunder, The Orphanage, Rambo IV, 1408, Planet Terror. I've probably seen better movies but these are all i can remember now.

Seven Pounds is one I have found very predictable. The idea is great and it could have been a great movie if I didn't know the entire story by 45 minutes. Waiting it to finish, expecting to be wrong, was just plain boring. My brother liked it very much tho. He was the one that recommended it. Anyway, I guess is just personal taste.

district 9

hint: look at what is written on the main characters head, and consider where the movie was made and takes place.

 yep, that was weird. Besides, I don't how he was able to keep that jellyfish alive on that
stupid tank for so long, since they are hard too keep and need constant flowing water.

exactly! i don't know why he chose jellyfish instead of others, i mean, he's a MIT graduate in the film and couldn't come up with a better suicide method? or is he just being 'creative'? lol...well the story was very ironic though, but i liked 'pursuit of happyness' more...

Push was the most recent for me that I found worth while.

Some others that I really like have already been mentioned, like Taken. I was disappointed with Transformers 2... what I saw of it anyway. I still need to watch the 2nd half.

So far this year I thought District 9 was pretty good, and the best movie I've seen so far this year is Inglourious Basterds. Still waiting to see Surrogates and Avatar.

The best movie to have come out in that timeframe is not a major hollywood movie or some european indie production. It's The Gamers: Dorkness Rising

Now this movie is only funny to the subsection of people who play and understand roleplaying, however for those people it is hilariously spot on without falling to the use of typical AD&D stereotypes as seen in TV shows and movies.

A kind soul has put it up on YouTube, but go and buy the DVD it comes with hilarious extras and will help to fund the creation of another one (already it is the sequel to the hugely funny but not quite as well executed The Gamers)

But there has been lots of great movies the last few years, this one is my single favorite though.

I'm not terribly fond of modern mainstream movies, at all. If I was allowed to go outside the date-range you specified by just a little bit, I would probably choose David Lynch's Inland Empire. Failing that, I was very impressed byLåt den rätte komma in, and quite enjoyed .REC.

I really enjoyed the remake of "The Last House on the Left". "I Love You, Man" was really funny, and had a decent Rush cameo.

I have a man-crush on Paul Rudd. Check out "Wet Hot American Summer" sometime, its grand.

I thought Watchmen was pretty good, if a bit over stylized.

I'm a fan of animation and comedy so here we go. I'll only mention what's on DVD. Ratatouille, WALL-E, Bolt, and Mall Cop are my favorite recent 2007-2009 movies.

So far it's Moon with Star Trek coming a close second.

That may change once I've seen District 9 and The Hurt Locker. (I might go and see Avatar as well if I can be bothered.)

edit: I've also still got to see Slumdog and Wall-E.

Man, I'm so apathetic towards movies I see. I wouldn't say these are my favorite, but I enjoyed them:
Star Trek, WALL-E, Ice Age 3 (3D YEAH), Yes Man, Sweeney Todd, Cloverfield, Iron Man, Evangelion 1.0 (*fanboy sqwee*) and probably District 9 when I see it.

When I think about it, I can name more movies I didn't like than movies I did like.
