I burned Ubuntu onto a disc, and then restarted my laptop, and every time I try to install it does not work.

Here is the error code:

You need to burn an ISO file to the disk and it should install upon startup of the disk in the drive when you turn on the computer. Make sure that your computer is setup to start with the cd drive first. YOu do this by setting the bios.

Ah! Scratch all this. I didn't see "Wubi". Wubi is not (IMHO) the way to go if you really want to use Ubuntu. It's a great way to test it out, however.

So keep my original post in mind for the future...

Be darn careful with Vista if you are trying to dual boot!

Defrag twice and use VISTA to resize your partitions. Don't do the resize with the LiveCD. Let Vista decide where it is going to move stuff around to.

When you get to setting up your partitions in the Ubuntu install process, select (I may not be exact here) "Largest contiguous space".

Please read this thoroughly before you move forward:

Wait, burn ANY ISO or a certain one?
I already burnt the Ubuntu onto the disc, but every time I tried to start it up it keeps coming up with the error....

You must burn the Ubuntu download file as an ISO image. If you are just burning the file to a disk it will not work.

a little knowledge can be a dangerous thing...
Have a good read at Ubuntucat before embarking on an installation fest!!!
Also, there are instructions on burning an iso image...

That's just Windows whining about some disk not being inserted.

That can occur if your CD drive stopped while being read.
