Taking snapshot of currently working ubuntu

Hello all ,

Before some days I attended one ubuntu seminar and in that I came across that we can take image of our currently working ubuntu. So that we can recover our ubuntu with all installed packages if unfortunately one has to install ubuntu again .Thus please tell me about this process.


P.S. I am using ubuntu 8.10 (interpid ibex )
