Problem with Eclipse

Hi guys. I'm having problem running eclipse under ubuntu 9.04. I download the latest version from the main site. After I extract the files and when I run the program from the icon nothing is happening and is created a file called "
�@@@�@8 (invalid encoding)" in the eclipse directory. Does anybody know what's happening ?

Hi, did you ever resolve the problem you described above? I've just installed eclipse 3.5 and have run into the exact same issue. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

try the 32 bit version of your eclipse version,
or more clearly spoken > match your JDK or JRE bit architecture
