Hi my computer sucks despite I have installed Ubuntu.I have multiple hardware problems and I am sick of it to the end..! So I decided to buy a nice/cheap laptop that will run Ubuntu 9.04 like a charm. But this laptop I am interested in comes only with Vista( I am not going back after having tried Ubuntu). So I am asking you...Will a laptop with these specd run Ubuntu 9.04?

I run ubuntu on a P2 333MHz. Bit sticky on heavy loads but generally fine.

Your spec is way fine :)

Be careful with that configuration. The Intel GMA 4500 integrated video card has bad video drivers for the moment in Ubuntu AFAIK.

Try booting a live cd (ubuntu 9.04) first. See if u have sound and if u can enable compiz.

My advice would be to buy something with Nvidia video card. That is the best supported brand ATM for Linux.

Search for a lap with a nvidia graphs chip...Nvidia is always Linux friendly.

If you want compiz, then I really recommend at least 7 series chip...they will come integrated though, and they will be cheep also.

Mate I bought a worst laptop than the one I wrote in this thread and it runs Ubuntu perfectly!!

Thank God I didn't have to go back to Bill Gates..!!!
