Hi all,

I have a dell laptop with external display. What power setting do you use and would like to suggest me in order to save power and increase the longevity of system.

The ondemand processor governor is pretty good.

And if its accessable (and you never use it), drain your battery to 40% or so and pull it out. Having it constantly charging to 100% plus the heat of the laptop will kill it. Some laptops (Thinkpads, maybe the business dells), can be set to stop charging at a certain charge in order to keep the battery living longer.

To save power either Powersave or On Demand... On Demand only gives you more cpu speed as needed so you prob wanna stick with that one unless on laptop and portable then powersaver will get you most battery time and so forth by cutting cpu speed in half... I use Performance always on my laptop though... Like having my CPU cranked up all day for full speed right away!
