View Full Version : [ubuntu] Trying to install Pencil, have major problems

So I'm trying to install Pencil (http://www.pencil-animation.org/) but I'm having major problems.

1. Pencil, when installed from the Ubuntu repository, is utterly useless for me, because:

a. I can't export in MOV format, the only video format it's supposed to export as. The dialogs come up, I type filename, size, location, hit save, it doesn't do anything, there is no file.

b. I can't export as SWF, which is also supposed to work.

c. Sound doesn't work.

2. When I try to compile it, it only ends in an error.

So I'm going to ask a lot here.

1. Does anyone know of an equivalent or superior program?
2. Has anyone got Pencil working appropriately? And can you show me how?
3. Does anyone have any suggestions for me on how to compile it. And
4. Does anyone know of a working Pencil package I can install? Or can anyone build a working package of Pencil?

Thanks for any responses in advance.
