I was having some gui problems with my hpc7250 as in some options were there before bit are not there now. Everything is there when I go to system/admin/printing and right click on the printer and click options. I am using CUPS and thought I was using something else( yes I'm still new at this). I found HPlip software apperently from HP and was wondering if anyone knew anything about it, good, bad, whatever. I was thinking of loading, but wasn't sure about it.

HPlip works quite well, my HP 5P that is connected to my server, shows up right away in the printer setup utility. Cups is actually the print daemon that does all the work. HPlip makes it easier to setup your HP printer or scanner.

Can I just install the software without deleting the printer? If I have to delete do I go to system/admin/printing and right click and delete the printer?

Just install it. It should not change your printer setup.
