Repository errors (Packages refuse to install)

So whenever I go into add/remove programs in ubuntu 7.10 on my ps3 and try to install something it doesn't do anything what so ever. I flick on a few repositories or whatnot in the preferences tab and try again and I get an error that says the repositories are outdated and what not.

I admit I am not smart with linux, not at all smart with it but my desktop died and I needed to put linux on my ps3 so I could have some communication with the outside world.

So whatever help you can give I appreciate it! :D

Hi, 7.10 (Gutsy) has reached its end of life, (probably the reason why you cannot update or install software), you would be better of upgrading to a later release of Ubuntu that is supported.
