I just discovered the mint menu, which I put on my gnome bar, and I think it is so much better than what comes standard. Do you have anything else that you like or, for that matter, thing somebody else might like from Mint?

No, it's something that was created specially for Linux Mint. Not related to Gimmie.

Well to my knowledge the mint menu was based off the main-menu I have installed

(pictured)

Don't yet know how to change the launch icon/text though.

Sorry, can't help. I have mintsystem 5.5 as well, and my menu works, so you might not have any problems.

I've always despised mint menu. I prefer the standard gnome layout.

I'm trying out the mintMenu right now, it's pretty solid. I think I'll make it a permanent member of my installation.

Yeah, mintmenu_4.8.0_all.deb/control.tar.gz/./control lists mintsystem as a dependency, it doesn't need it.

Attached is a "fixed" deb.

EDIT: I recommend you learn how to take apart and rebuild deb files, it can be quite useful.

EDIT: Headdesk, use ar, not tar for debs, don't compress.

Your deb is corrupt. But thank you.
