When I swicth workspaces then 1 or more of my panels disappear. This only happens when I have visual enhancements selected as normal or advanced - never when I have this function disabled. I always have my panels on left and right (my netbook screen needs as much vertical res as I can find) I have repeatedly reset the panels back to "normal" (ubuntu standard) and the problem also occurs here also (with panels left & right). It doesn't seem to be deterministic as to which panel disappears - so any given panel config / session.
Panel can occaisionally come back if you click on them (despite them being invisible)
Odd - I have seen a couple of other reports of this on these forums
