View Full Version : [ubuntu] Install issue 9.04: ata3: comreset failed errno-16

I'm trying to load 9.04 on a sony vaio vgc rm1, and keep having the following issues. First, load the disc, boot up and while booting I get: ata3: comreset failed (errno=-16) several times, each time with a bigger number in front of it.

Then it actually asks me what language.. then asks whether I want to boot from cd or install. Either one I try end up looking like its loading, but then the monitor turns into garbely goop, and nothing happens at that point, but I do hear the start up tone...

I have tried redownloading and burning the iso, and I just redid my raid array, so its a fresh drive I'm putting it on... I did the disc integrity check and the memory test, no problems.

Any ideas are much appreciated!

Aloha from Maui!

Update: Tried to load ubuntu 8 and had the same problem.

The monitor goes to garbely goop, but if I hit cntrl alt f1 It comes back to life, but still won't let me boot off the cd or install on the drive. Does ubuntu not like raid?

I have the recent bios updates, and even did a raid 1 mirror array so it would be less confusing for ubuntu, but no love....
