kinit name_to_dev

[xxxYYY]

After upgrading applications, and installing a new sound card, my kinit fails with an error:

kinit: name_to_dev(/dev ....
kinit: trying to resume from /dev ...

Any ideas on how to get kinit to start and bring up the usual login window?
